About the Resource Provider
The Alexandros Petersen Scholarship was established by King’s College London in collaboration with the Petersen Family in 2016. The scholarship honors Dr. Alexandros Petersen, a gifted scholar and alumnus of King’s, who made significant contributions to Eurasian geopolitics. Funded by a transformative $1 million gift from the Petersen Family, the scholarship perpetuates Alexandros’ academic legacy by supporting students from Afghanistan, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus in advancing their studies and careers in conflict, security, and development.
Benefits
Full tuition fee waiver for the Conflict, Security, and Development MA program
£20,000 stipend for living expenses in 2025/2026 which will be paid over 10 months
£2,000 travel bursary for travel costs
Who Can Benefit From?
Residents of Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, or Uzbekistan.
Applicants for the Conflict, Security, and Development MA program within the Department of War Studies at King’s College London.
Students who demonstrate financial need and aspire to return to their region to contribute their skills after completing their studies.
Application and Procedure
Apply for the Master's Program:
Start your application for the " Conflict, Security, and Development MA " program through the King's Apply portal.
Indicate on the application form if you wish to study a different MA within the War Studies Department (see full list here).
Complete the Scholarship Application Form.
Upload a writing sample (e.g., an academic essay or policy report related to conflict, security, or development).
Attach the scholarship form and writing sample in the Supporting Statements section.
Waive Application Fee:
Fill out the MS Form for the application fee waiver by 10 January 2025.
After receiving confirmation, submit your application by 13 January 2025.
Selection Process:
Eligible applications will be reviewed, and you may be asked to provide additional documents like your degree certificate and transcript.
King's will notify applicants about the scholarship decision by end of March 2025.
